Community Garden: Initial Infrastructre
22 September 2011
Following on from the success of the first Princes Trust course we decided to continue working with the participants from the course to continue to build up the infrastructure on the Milton Community Garden. This was run though drop in volunteering sessions and basic infrastructure was put in place.
During the volunteering sessions more raised beds were constructed as well as paths from pallets and scaffolding planks. Two shipping containers were situated on the site and volunteers helped to level the ground and build foundations from hard-core and paving slabs to sit them on. A covered space was constructed around one of the containers using fence posts and timber while the deck was constructed using scaffolding planks.
These drop-in sessions also allowed more people to get involved with the project and showcased the positive changes that can take place with the space to make the garden a place local people want to use on a regular basis.
